What Is Pedestrian Dwell Time?

Pedestrian dwell time is the duration a person spends actively looking at an advertising display. Not walking past it. Not standing near it while scrolling their phone. Actually looking at it. The concept comes from retail analytics, where dwell time originally measured how long a shopper lingered in a store zone. In outdoor advertising, the definition has been refined: dwell time is the period during which a viewer's gaze is directed at the advertising surface, from first glance to the moment they look away.
